Rugby World Cup

At the start of the World Cup I was thinking that I may have been a bit negative (see my July post about the All Blacks looking fragile before the World Cup) but the loss to France in the quarter final proved me correct. Everyone, including the team themselves, thought that they could just pull out the “A” game when it counted but they couldn’t.

Some bleeding heart types drivel on…

All Blacks Fragile

The All Blacks are still looking fragile some 50 days out from the World Cup. Hopefully, they are simply concentrating on not peaking early. One thing is for sure; it’s all about how you play on the day. Regardless of how good you are, if the team is 5 or 10% off their game, other sides can beat them. We can definitely win but I wouldn’t put my house on it.

Christchurch

I’m in Christchurch this week as part of a small team conducting an internal review of Ernst & Young’s client files.  It doesn’t sound very exciting but it’s nice to have a change from the Auckland office and we’re having some fun.

Lucky Me

I’ve never been very lucky when it comes to lotteries, raffles and the like so it came as no surprise at the Rangatira preseason social last Wednesday when I won a woolly hat for the second year in a row in the door prize draw.  It was a bit of a surprise when two minutes later I won a Head tennis cap and a complete shock two minutes later when, all tickets being back in the pool, I won the main prize, being a new pair of Head ski boots.
